Phar Lap

Champion to a Nation!

This is the most ambitious production that Ozworks has attempted to date. To attempt to reenact the 1930 Melbourne Cup seems like a crazy thing to do.

Phar Lap is an icon of the Australian Horse Racing industry and all Australians recognize the 17.1h  Chestnut Gelding as an Australian Champion succeeding against all the odds.

No matter what hurdles they through at Big Red including incredible weight burdens and an attempted assassination by the Victorian underworld Phar Lap's big heart pounded resilient in his chest to achieve incredible feats.

The Phar Lap story has something in it for everyone and all Australians identify with the fighting spirit the wonder horse demonstrated each and every time he ran.

Ozworks first presented Phar Lap - Champion to a Nation in 2005 at the Toowoomba Royal Show. In 2010 Phar Lap will run once more at Parklands Show Ground for the Goldsteins Bakery Gold Coast Show in 2010.
