RIDES THE TOOWOOMBA SHOWGROUND
March 22 to 24 2007

The horse sequences within The Man From Snowy River Arena Spectacular will be the most challenging riding sequences attempted in any Ozworks Entertainment production. Admittedly the Reenactment of the 1930 Melbourne Cup in 206 with the "Phar Lap" production wasn't easy either but at least there we had jockeys on the back of horses providing control at all times. Horses running in a mob with no one on their backs followed by whip cracking cowboys is a completely different story.

Having said that there are other horse riding sequences within the spectacular that require all levels of horse riding abilities. From children on pony's, horses in harness as well as more accomplished riders to be part of the Toowoomba Trail Ride Club choreographed sequences to music.

The Story is set in the late 1800's in the Snowy Mountains of Australia and the Toowoomba Show grounds will be transformed with horses of all transport disciplines as the production unfolds.

There may even be snow!

To register to be part of this exciting production fill out the form below and an Ozworks representative will be in touch with you soon.

Moss Vale and District Show
March 15 - 17 2007

Following from the extremely successful show in 2006 "Salute to the Outback" the team is back to produce one of Ozworks Entertainment's most successful and requested productions. The Waltzing Matilda Story will again feature the OUTBACK RIDERS in a choriographed riding sequence to music entitled "Birth of a Nation".

Each rider will control their horse with one hand while carrying an Australian Flag. Based on Troop Drill movements this riding sequence is sure to leave quite an impact on the large Moss Vale Show audience. More riders, more complex and harder riding sequences will dazzle all who see it and provide a life long memory for all who ride.

SALUTE TO THE OUTBACK

The Spectacular Horse Sequences planned for the North Coast National feature attraction in 2006 SALUTE TO THE OUTBACK will be remembered and talked about a long time after the event.

Producers are seeking horses and riders interested in riding within the finale sequence of the Arena Spectacular.

Riders of different backgrounds including pleasure riders as well as competition riders are wanted. Horses must be of a quiet nature and be able to handle the unnatural environment of a Show Ring, bright lights and music. Amongst the crack riders wanted are - stock men and women who can crack a whip and ride troop, barrel racers, polocrosse, rescue race and run with brumbies.

But first things first. Please let yourselves be known to us and we'll be in touch. See below the compulsory training evenings. Also see below "the schedule" which is the commitment details of final rehearsal and performances outside the below training dates.

Heritage Toowoomba Royal Show March 29 to April 1 2006

Presenting "Phar Lap - Champion to a Nation" Arena Spectacular will be our greatest challenge to date. You can't fake a horse race like you can a Ned Kelly gun battle! The success of this ambitious production will be the involvement of horse industry personnel including jockeys past and present, track workers, trainers, horse industry stable hands and assistants and of course the right horses.

There will be no less than 3 horses playing the role of Phar Lap through different times of his development and we would like to encourage all people who may have a chestnut that matches these descriptions to register on the easy to fill out form below. It is important to note that the main arena of the Toowoomba Show Grounds with theatre lights, music and a large crowd is an unnatural environment for a horse and you'd have to be sure that your horse would be ok in this environment.

Horse 1 - Yearling or close to it. To depict Phar Lap when he arrived from New Zealand. He looked pretty ugly and nothing like the future champion he became.
Horse 2 - A developed Phar Lap running track work. Showing promise. Also to perform a few gags like "liberty" or "pulling of saddle cloth" etc. We are open to anything that might be seen to be cute & funny by the audience.
Horse 3 - Fully fit and flying Phar Lap that won the 1930 Melbourne Cup.

It has been discussed that the horse playing Phar Lap be the only horse with a racing background in order for us to control the race as required by script. So the other horses may be a mix of stock horses, warm bloods and quarter horses. We will need at least 7 to 10 of these horses, fit, controllable, quiet and stoppable to run with Phar Lap on the Show Ground track.

If you have a horse that would be suitable for any of the roles listed above OR you are interested in being a jockey or horse assistant for the Arena Spectacular then please fill out the form below and an Ozworks representative will be in touch with you at our earliest convenience.

A meeting of all horse participants with their horses will be held on Wednesday the 1st March at the Toowoomba Show Grounds to begin the process of working through the race sequence.

NOTE: All suppliers of horses and riders must commit to ALL rehearsals and performance dates as detailed in "the schedule". All riders must sign a "waiver" for insurance purposes who participate in this production.
